How to Use the Software
This software program is designed to help you build and customize your policies and
procedures to assure that your organization meets federal law and regulations (e.g., OSHA,
CMS), accrediting body standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, CHAP and ACHC) and
category 1A, 1B or 1C recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC).
Getting Started
1. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD/DVD drive; the program will automatically start. If the
program does not automatically start, on the bottom left corner of the computer screen
click on Start, then click on My Computer and double-click on the CD/DVD drive to open
the program files. Double-click on Setup and the software will open and automatically
start.
2. Complete and submit the software registration information. You will receive the
authorization code to activate the software via e-mail. Until the software is activated, the
program will run in a "View Only" mode and the content cannot be customized.
3. Access to the software is limited to one computer per license; please make sure that the
software is activated on the computer that will be used ongoing to access the program. If you
are interested in using the software on more than one computer, please let us know as
we would be glad to provide you additional licenses at a discounted price.
4. In select programs, some of the content may be locked and cannot be deleted. Content
that cannot be modified will be noted as blue text in the program (and will print as black
text). Only content that is mandated by laws, regulations, accrediting body standards or
category 1A, 1B or 1C CDC recommendations may be locked (i.e., cannot be edited or
deleted from the manual) to assure that the content is not inadvertently edited and
removed from the policies.
5. The Infection Prevention and Control Program content is divided into 8 tabs that
correspond with the 8 sections of the Infection Prevention and Control Program manual.
Click on each tab across the horizontal bar on the top of the page to view the content
within each section. Click on the titles listed vertically along the left side to view the
content within each policy. The Home Care and Hospice Medication Management content
may be viewed by clicking on the titles listed vertically along the left side.
6. To customize the manual:
A. Add your Organization's Name to the Manual's Title Page: Click on Edit and then click
on Title Page: Suggested content includes your organization's name, address,
telephone number, and web address. The organization's logo may also be added to
this page.
B. Add Your Organization's Name to the Header on each Policy: Click on Edit and click on
then Header/Footer: Insert Organization Name and if applicable logo; Insert additional
content within the footer as desired.
C. Access the content and edit: Click on a section title across the top of the screen and
view the content listed vertically on the left side of the screen. Click on a topic within
each section and the content will appear within the box. Edit (add new content) or
delete (unlocked) content as needed; all changes will be automatically saved.
D. Add a new policy title from your existing policies: Click on File, click on Insert Topic,
select the location of where the new policy title will be inserted and enter the new
policy title name. The new policy title will be added to the end of the list of existing

new policy content into the main section and format as needed.
